How To Write a Thank You Note

Thank you notes are short notes that show appreciation for something that someone did for or gave you. These are typically around just a few sentences and are customary to write pretty much upon anyone doing anything nice for you. These can be a bit of a problem for people, especially those who have never written one before. Here are some tips and examples to guide you as you write your thank you note.

-Always point out what you are thanking the person for.

-Try not to group people together unless it is a couple. When thanking a group of people, thank them individually.

-Never send out group mailings as this seems robotic and being done just to be polite. Thank you notes should at least seem like they are coming from the heart.

-Be brief and do not go on tangents. This is a thank you note, not a way for you to ask the person for something else.

-Talk about how much you appreciated their going out of their way for you.
